If you are looking for a solution to integrate a WordPress site with your CRM, WP Fusion is probably the most suitable solution. In this article, I’ll explain what it is, what this plugin is for, and in what situations it can be useful for you.
In fact, WP Fusion allows for tight integration between the main CRMs (and email marketing automation services) and one or more WordPress sites.
There are many plugins and solutions available to collect contacts and email addresses and transfer them to the various CRM and email marketing services. But once contact is entered within services such as ActiveCampaign or MailChimp, it is not possible to change the behavior of the site based on the information present on these services.
WP Fusion allows you to transform your WordPress site by making it an extension of your CRM. For example, if contact on ActiveCampaign is tagged in a certain way, they will be able to access content on your site that other people are not allowed to see.
Likewise, if a user performs certain operations on your site, you can apply a tag to have your email marketing system initiate automation or send them a message.
WP Fusion as an alternative to membership plugins
WP Fusion doesn’t just integrate WordPress with CRMs, it connects a lot of WordPress plugins with CRMs. The list of supported plugins and CRMs is particularly large and I will go into the details of this aspect later.
Once you have activated WP Fusion on WordPress and connected it with a CRM, you can do a lot of cool things.
Eg:
- Make sure that content is accessible only to users logged in and tagged in a certain way on the CRM.
- Prevent access to content if the user is tagged with a specific tag.
- Set up a specific redirect if a user is denied access to that content.
- Tag users who visit certain content.
- Remove a tag from users who visit certain content.
This kind of setting can be applied to pages, articles, categories, tags, or content created with the various plugins supported by WP Fusion.
For example, if you use LearnDash to create courses, with WP Fusion you can automatically enroll people tagged in a certain way on your CRM for a course. Or you can tag people who have finished a course or completed a lesson. But not only that, keep reading to discover other interesting features.
The possible usage scenarios are many and are limited only by the imagination. Such a solution allows the creation of membership sites that use CRM as the main source of information on users. WP Fusion, however, allows you to use that information to apply rules on the functioning of the site.
I also add that it is useful to carefully plan the use of tags, otherwise, the risk is to add one for anything and find each contact in the CRM with dozens of tags assigned. The aim is to identify and collect useful information, not to overload the system with “junk”.
Synchronize your site’s user details with the fields in the CRM
Thanks to WP Fusion it is possible to synchronize every WordPress user field with the fields of your CRM, both standard fields and any custom fields.
For example, you can keep and synchronize with your CRM the last lesson and the last course completed by a user.
You can also record and store login dates, to activate automation when a person hasn’t accessed the site for several weeks.
Thanks to this feature, if a user updates their name and even their email address within your site; these data can also be updated on the CRM. A great advantage for e-commerce sites, membership sites, or online courses.
Enter WordPress users on your CRM and create WordPress users from your CRM
Numerous solutions allow you to add new contacts to your CRM through forms on your site. Also, plugins like Gravity Forms allow you to send data to the main email marketing services.
In addition to doing this, WP Fusion also allows you to create a new user on WordPress starting from the CRM.
In fact, with some CRMs, it is possible to create automation to send a webhook (an HTTP request) to the WordPress site on which WP Fusion is installed, to order the creation of a new user.
For example, you can send an email to your subscribers asking them to click on a link if they want to try your membership. If they do, automation starts that creates the user in WordPress. You can then also send them a link to allow automatic login on the site.
Manage and customize the login to the site
Thanks to WP Fusion you can keep track of the accesses made to the site. If you create a free membership level, you can check if users have logged in at least for the first time.
For example, you can offer a free course, check which users are logged in and who have completed it.
You can also count the number of days from which no login is made and act accordingly.
You can also set up post-login redirect rules that fire based on the user’s tag. In practice, users with TAG X are redirected to page X and those with TAG Y are redirected somewhere else.
Which CRMs WP Fusion can be used with
The following CRM and email marketing automation services are supported:
ActiveCampaign, AgileCRM, Autopilot, BirdSend, Capsule, ConvertKit, Copper, Customerly, Drift, Drip, EngageBay, Flexie, FluentCRM, GetResponse, Gist, Groundhogg, Growmatik, HighLevel, HubSpot, Infusionsoft / Keap, Intercom, Jetpack CRM, Kyoartra, Klick-Tipp, Loopify, MailChimp, MailEngine, MailerLite, Mailjet, Maropost, Mautic, NationBuilder, Ontraport, Platform.ly, Pulse CRM, Quentn, Salesflare, Salesforce, Sendinblue, SendFox, Sendlane, Tubular, User.com, Zoho.
The different levels of integration possible with the various CRMs are explained in the WP Fusion documentation since not all CRMs have the features to be able to do everything possible with this plugin.
The best CRM services from the point of view of integration with WP Fusion are ActiveCampaign, Drip, and HubSpot.
Infusionsoft / Keap, Mautic, Ontraport, Salesforce, and Sendinblue follow.
For example, it is also possible to use WP Fusion with MailChimp, ConvertKit, or GetResponse, as long as you have to give up some features.
For example, not all CRMs allow you to send webhooks and not all CRMs allow you to take advantage of advanced e-commerce tracking.

Enhanced e-commerce tracking
Using plugins such as WooCommerce, Easy Digital Downloads, MemberPress, LifterLMS, Event Espresso or Give, you can send transaction data to CRMs that support this feature: ActiveCampaign, AgileCRM, Drip, HubSpot, Infusionsoft, NationBuilder, Ontraport, and Zoho.
This feature allows you to easily keep track of users’ LTV or Lifetime value, updating it every time a purchase is made.
It is also possible to set up automation following the purchase of certain products.
With plugins like MemberPress, all recurring payments are also tracked in the case of subscriptions.
Also, connect to external services
WP Fusion also allows you to connect via webhooks to services like Zapier, thus allowing you to create automatisms that start when events occur on your WordPress site.
This is one more possibility that could come in handy in some cases.
WP Fusion allows more freedom than other solutions
For those who are used to the idea of always having to install a solution like WooCommerce to sell something through their WordPress site, WP Fusion allows you to open other paths.
Thanks to a plugin like WP Fusion if you can associate a tag in your CRM when a payment is made, then you can automatically allow access to the contents of your site.
If to sell physical products via a WordPress site, WooCommerce appears to be the obvious choice. It may not be the best solution if you want to sell your course or access a membership.
WP Fusion, among other things, also supports solutions such as ThriveCart very well, which I have already talked about in other articles. For example, you can create the checkout page and accept payments via ThriveCart and, once the purchase is complete, with a simple click your users are already logged in on your WordPress site. This is because WP Fusion can automatically create a new user using the data that the customer entered when he purchased ThriveCart.
For whom WP Fusion is suitable
WP Fusion is an ideal plugin in the first place for those who exploit or want to exploit the features of their CRM and could benefit from integrating them into their WordPress site.
Beyond this, the typical user of a plugin like WP Fusion must necessarily have a minimum of technical skills. For example, if terms like shortcode, webhook, or custom field are not clear to you, it is most likely not worth venturing into configuring a plugin like WP Fusion.
Although it is also a plugin that allows you to do almost everything without writing any line of code, there may be situations in which you need to get your hands a little dirty with the code, or with the configuration of your hosting service. For example to correctly configure the plugin or cache system used on the site.
WP Fusion boasts rich and detailed documentation. In addition, the company that created WP Fusion offers a high level of support to its customers.
How much does WP Fusion cost? Is there a free version?
This plugin is also available in a free version, called WP Fusion Lite which is downloadable from the official WordPress repository. This version allows you to synchronize user data on WordPress with CRM data and also to protect content based on tags. However, the paid version of WP Fusion is required to take advantage of all the integrations with the various WordPress plugins.
Paid versions start at $ 247 for the Personal license. Then there are also the Plus and Professional versions which also offer the 6 addons and the ability to install WP Fusion on an unlimited number of sites. Each license requires annual renewal, which can be purchased at a discounted price.
The 6 addons are dedicated WP Fusion extensions:
- to the recovery of abandoned carts;
- advanced e-commerce tracking;
- to tracking interaction with multimedia files such as Vimeo, YouTube, Wistia, and VooPlayer videos.
- download protection (this is a beta feature);
- to the tracking and management of logins;
- to connect to systems such as Zapier via webhook.
Lifetime licenses are also available (with no annual renewal fees), but not for an unlimited number of sites. That is, it is possible to purchase a lifetime license for 1 site or 3 sites. After all, developing, keeping constantly updated, and always adding new features to a plugin like WP Fusion is a complex activity. Unfortunately, lifetime licenses make it difficult to sustain the business over the long term *.
