Bought in 2016 by Snapchat, Bitmoji is an application that allows you to create customizable avatars. Now integrated into the application, Bitmojis replace profile photos.

Create your Bitmoji on Snapchat

The creation is done directly in the application settings:

  • Open Snapchat,
  • Tap the profile icon at the top left of the camera,
  • Select Bitmoji, then Create my Bitmoji from the drop-down menu,
  • Customize your avatar as you wish, then click Save.

You are free to define facial features, skin color, hairstyle, clothing, and distinctive signs to make your Bitmoji look like you (or not).

When created, the Bitmoji will replace the anonymous avatar on your profile page, but also in conversations with your friends. A 3D version of the bitmoji is automatically generated during creation.

Edit your Bitmoji

Once you’ve created your Bitmoji, you can edit it at any time:

  • Open the Snapchat app,
  • Tap the profile icon at the top left of the camera,
  • Select Bitmoji,
  • Choose between Modify my Bitmoji (to change the appearance), Modify my outfit (to change the dress style), or Select a selfie (to customize the pose on the Snapcode),
  • Customize your avatar as you wish, then click Save.

Delete your Bitmoji on Snapchat

To desynchronize your Bitmoji from your Snapchat account:

  • Open the Snapchat app,
  • Tap the profile icon at the top left of the camera,
  • Select Bitmoji,
  • Click Desynchronize my Bitmoji .

It is always possible to recover a Bitmoji by synchronizing its Bitmoji account with the application (only works if you have installed iOS 10 or Android 5.0 at least).

Send Bitmoji Stickers to Friends

You can use Bitmojis in conversations with your friends. A large number of customizable stickers allow you to showcase your Bitmoji with those of your friends.

To access these stickers, go to a Snapchat conversation, then click the smiley icon to the right of the voice message recording button. You can choose from several hundred templates sorted by emotion.
