NCR full form: NCR stands for National Capital Region in its entire form. In Hindi, the full name of NCR is National Capital Region.
The National Capital Region Planning Board Act of 1985 established the National Capital Region (NCR) and its planning board. The main goal of establishing the Delhi NCR region was to avoid overcrowding in Delhi and to move the weight away from the capital. The National Capital Region Planning Board was established, for this reason, to encourage economic and infrastructure development in NCR districts, allowing individuals from other states to be decentralized from Delhi. The average population growth of Delhi was about 60% until 1991 when it began to decline due to the rise of Gurgaon and Noida.
The NCR was defined as the entire NCT of Delhi; Haryana’s Gurgaon, Faridabad (including Palwal), Rohtak (including Jhajjar), Sonipat, and Rewari and Panipat tehsils were in Mahendragarh; and Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr, Meerut, and Ghaziabad (including Hapur Tehsil) and some of Rajasthan’s Alwar district were in Mahendragarh As of 1985, the NCR covered a total area of 34,144 km2.
The NCR Planning Board is building a Regional Rapid Transit System to develop areas such as Manesar, Bhiwadi, Alwar, Sonipat, and Meerut in the future. It will connect Delhi – Alwar (170 km), Delhi – Panipat (100 km), and Delhi – Meerut (80 km) in the first phase, while more districts would be connected in the second phase.
