Here’s how…

How to see duets on TikTok: TikTok duets are an incredibly popular aspect of the app and offer enormous potential for creativity. You can do a duet with yourself, a friend, and even a real-life pop star or celebrity. If you’re new to TikTok and want to get in on the action, this tutorial will show you how to create and watch duets on TikTok.

Duets on TikTok are the same as anywhere. Two people singing or doing a skit. The difference is that in this application, the two artists do not have to be in the same room. They don’t even have to be in the same time zone. Everything is done virtually and the app puts it together to create a video worth sharing.

If you want to try out a duet, this guide shows you how.

How to create a duet on TikTok

There’s a lot of scope for creativity on TikTok and you’ll quickly find a song or something else to perform in your duet. Some celebrities even create videos specifically for you to do a duet while in theory you can do it with anyone in any video.

Once you have a video in mind, we can move on to creating the duet.

  1. Open TikTok and select the video you want to duet with.
  2. Select the Share icon to the right of that video and select Duet. The screen should now be split in two with the source video on one side.
  3. Hit record when you’re ready to record your side of the duet.
  4. Add the effects you want after you’ve finished recording.
  5. Select Next once you’re done, set the comments, react, and add the hashtags.
  6. Select Publish to publish it.

If you can’t select a video for a duet, it’s because the person who uploaded the video will have set their account to private. Some people do this for privacy reasons, so you won’t be able to interact with their videos. You can ask them if you can use it or just find another one.

Do a duet with yourself on TikTok

It’s great to duet with other people, but in some circumstances, a duet with yourself can add another dimension, literally. There are tons of songs and sketches on TikTok where this is done very smartly and can be very effective when done right. If you want to get in on the action, doing a duet with yourself is very similar to doing it with someone else, but includes an important additional step.

You will first have to record a video of yourself solo and then use that video to do a duet. I like this:

  1. Open TikTok and create the first version of your video.
  2. Save the video as a draft instead of posting it.
  3. Select a new video and select to upload a video instead of creating a new one.
  4. Select the video you just created and upload it to TikTok. It should appear on one side with the recording screen on the other.
  5. Record the second video the same as the previous one.
  6. Add effects, hashtags, and whatever, and select Post to post it.

Watch a duet on TikTok

How to see duets on TikTok: Watching duets is the same as watching any video. There is no specific category for them, they will appear in the general melee of videos in the app. They can be gifted by a split-screen if you watch the video itself, otherwise, it’s a matter of looking at the titles.

Troubleshooting duets on TikTok

If you can’t get duets to work on TikTok, there might be a couple of things getting in the way. Your account settings may not allow it or the application may need an update.

A very common problem is the privacy settings. I mentioned before that you can’t do a duet with some videos because of them. You may also not be able to perform a duet due to your privacy settings.

  1. Open TikTok and select your profile icon.
  2. Select the three-dot menu icon in the upper right.
  3. Select Privacy and safety and make sure “Who can duet with me” is set to Everyone or Friends.

If you’re doing a duet with yourself and can’t get it to work, turning it on should fix it. If you are trying to duet with someone else, check your privacy settings as you may have the Duet with Me setting turned off.

Duets are a level of creativity that combines with all the others to make TikTok such a dynamic and interesting social network. Sure some duets are rubbish, but many are very good. Anyone who contributes to that level of content gets my vote!

One of the best features of TikTok is the way that users can create duets and stitch other people’s videos together. Whether it’s a dance challenge, a viral question, a Ratatouille musical duo, or a Sea Shanty remix, duets and stitches are always some of the app’s most popular videos.

But unlike Twitter, where you can see everyone’s replies with one click, there isn’t a specific button on TikTok that will show you all of the duets on a certain video. However, there is a way to find them manually.

And all you need is the original poster username.

How to find duets on TikTok

How to see duets on TikTok: Thanks to a TikTok tutorial from @username, you can find all the duets linked to an original video by typing ‘duo @ [username of the video]’ in the search bar. The search results will show users’ most popular videos and show the most popular duets. If the user has more than one viral video, you may find a mix of videos in the search results.

You can also copy and paste the username into the search bar to avoid having to remember it. To do this, go to the user’s profile and tap on their username. A bar should flash on your screen indicating “user name copied”.

How to find points on TikTok

Finding all the points related to a video is the same as finding the duets. Type ‘point @ [username of the video]’ in the search bar.

So if you want to spend hours scrolling through all the “What’s a video that lives in your head for free?” “TikToks, search for” stitch @username”. Or if you’re looking for an endless supply of everyone’s favorite celebrity interview moments, search for “stitch @username”.
