Half the perimeter of a rectangular garden, whose length is 4 M more than its width, is 36 M. Find the dimensions of the garden.

Answer:

Given

  • Length = 4 m
  • Width = 36 m

Let

  • l be the length of the rectangular garden
  • b be the width of the rectangular garden

As given in the question:

Length is 4m more than its width

l = b + 4

l – b = 4————–[1]

Half Parameter of the rectangle = 36

l + b = 36————[2]

Now, by adding both the equations [1] and [2], we get,

l + b + l – b = 4 + 36

2l = 40

l =frac402

l = 20

Now by substituting the value of l in the equation [1] we get,

l – b = 4

20 – b = 4

b = 20 – 4

b = 16

Therefore, the length (l) of the rectangle is 20m and the width (b) of the rectangle is 16m.
