BPL full form: BPL stands for Below Poverty Line in its full form. Below Poverty Line is the full version of BPL in Hindi. It is used by the Indian government to identify individuals and families in need of government help and to reflect their economic position. The term “below the poverty line” (BPL) refers to a set of income guidelines. People who earn less than this amount are considered poor or living in poverty. The limit is set based on a number of factors that differ from state to state and even within states. The present criteria are the result of a 2002 survey. For the past decade, India’s federal government has not performed a new survey. As a result, the government is unsure of the criteria for identifying low-income families.
It is extremely difficult to determine a ‘poverty line’ for the entire country of India. Extreme poverty is defined as an income of less than $150 per person per day in purchasing power parity on a global scale. Approximately 12.4 percent of Indians, according to this assessment, are extremely impoverished. APL stands for Above Poverty Line in its full form. Above Poverty Line is the full version of APL in Hindi. It is a nationally recognized indicator of persons living above the poverty level in India. The poverty line in India is divided into urban and rural areas. To be classified over the poverty line, people in metropolitan regions must earn a greater monthly minimum income. The World Bank utilizes a more stringent poverty line than the Indian government. Ration cards for families living above the poverty level are known as Above Poverty Line (APL) Ration Cards (as estimated by the planning commission). 15 kg of food grains will be distributed to these families (subject to availability).
