How to use the summary module on Divi builder

Before you can add a Summary module divi to your page, you must first access the Divi Builder. Once the Divi theme is installed on your website, you will notice a Use Divi Builder button above the post editor every time you create a new page. By clicking on this button, you activate Divi Builder, which gives you access to all the Divi Builder modules. Then click on the Use Visual Builder button to launch the builder in visual mode. You can also click the Use Visual Builder button while browsing your upstream website if you are logged in to your WordPress dashboard.

Once entered into Visual Builder, you can click the gray plus button to add a new module to your page. New modules can only be added inside rows. If you are starting a new page, remember to add a row to your page first.

Find the Summary module divi in the list of modules and click on it to add it to your page. The list of modules is searchable, which means you can also type the word “Summary” and then click enter to automatically find and add the summary module divi! Once the module is added, you will be greeted with the list of module options. These options are divided into three main groups: Content, Design, and Advanced.

use case to list company services on the homepage

Since the Summary module divi combines both images and text to showcase certain features, you can use it to add a list of your business services to your home page. The Blurb module also allows you to turn your image/icon and title into a link to your service page. For this example, I’m going to use the Blurb module to add four featured services to a homepage.

To add all four Blurbs to your page, use the visual builder to add a standard section with a four-column row. Then add a Blurb module to the first column of your row.

Update the Blurb settings with the following:

Content Options

Title: [enter service title]
Content: [enter a brief description of service]
URL: [add URL to service page]
Use icon: YES
Icon: [select an icon that illustrates your service]

Design options

Icon Color: # 42bb99 (make the color that compliments the design of the site)
Use Icon Font Size : YES
Icon Font Size: 68px (adjust icon size)
Text Orientation: Center – Header
Font Size : 24px
Font Body Size : 18px
Body Line Height: 1.5em

Now your first blurb is complete.

Now duplicate the Summary module divi you just created three times and drag each of the duplicated summaries to the other three columns. As your design parameters have been integrated into your duplicate modules, you just need to change the content (header, content, icon, URL, etc.) and change the colors to suit each of your services.

Summary module divi content options

In the content tab, you will find all the content elements of the module, such as text, images, and icons. Everything that controls what appears in your module will always be in this tab.

Title

Give your text a title that will appear above the text in a bold text style. The URL option located under the Title field will allow you to make your title a hyperlink.

Contents

This field is where you can enter the body content of your text. Blurb Text will also cover the entire width of your column up to 550px.

Url

Place a valid web URL in this field to turn your Blurb title into a link. Leaving this field blank will just leave your title as a static element.

URL opening

Here you can choose whether or not your link will open in a new window.

Use icon

When using Blurbs, you can choose to use an icon or an image with your text. If you select “Yes” for the “Use icon” option, you will be offered the following options to customize your icon. If you don’t choose to use an icon, you’ll be prompted to upload an image instead.

Icon

If you have chosen “Yes” for the “Use Icon” setting, this option will appear. This option presents you with a list of available icons that you can use with your blurb. Just click on the icon you want to use and it will appear in your text.

Picture

If you did not choose to use an icon, this setting will appear. Place a valid image URL here, or choose/upload an image via the WordPress media library. Images in the Summary module divi always appear centered in their columns and span the entire width of your column up to 550px. However, your image will never be larger than its original upload size. The height of the presentation image is determined by the aspect ratio of your original image. It is therefore advisable to place all your presentation images at the same height if you place them side by side.

Background color

Define a custom background color for your module or leave it blank to use the default color.

Background picture

If set, this image will be used as the background for this module. To remove a background image, just remove the URL from the Settings field. Background images will appear on top of background colors, meaning your background color will not be visible when a background image is applied.

Admin label

This will change the module label in the generator for easy identification. When using the WireFrame view in Visual Builder, these labels will appear in the module block of the Divi Builder interface.

Advanced options Summary module divi

On the Advanced tab, you’ll find options that more experienced web designers may find useful, such as custom CSS and HTML attributes. Here you can apply custom CSS to any of the module’s many elements. You can also apply custom CSS classes and IDs to the module, which can be used to customize the module in your child theme’s style.css file.

CSS ID

Enter an optional CSS ID to use for this module. An ID can be used to create a custom CSS style or to link to particular sections of your page.

CSS class

Enter the optional CSS classes to use for this module. A CSS class can be used to create custom CSS styling. You can add multiple classes, separated by a space. These classes can be used in your Divi Child theme or in the custom CSS that you add to your page or website using the Divi theme options or the Divi Builder page settings.

Custom CSS

Custom CSS can also be applied to the module and any of the module’s internal elements. In the Custom CSS section, you will find a text field where you can add CSS directly to each element. CSS entries in these settings are already embedded with style tags. You just need to enter CSS rules separated by semicolons.

Image / icon animation

This controls the direction of the lazy loading animation.

ALT text from the image

If you did not choose to use an icon, this setting will appear. Another text provides any information needed if the image is not loading, displayed correctly, or in any other situation where a user cannot see the image. It also allows the image to be read and recognized by search engines.

Visibility

This option allows you to control the devices on which your module appears. You can choose to deactivate your module on tablets, smartphones, or desktops individually. This is useful if you want to use different mods on different devices or if you want to simplify the mobile design by removing some elements from the page.
